CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building)

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of builders, including selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality, and liaising with clients.

As a Builder you may also be the appropriately licensed person with responsibility under the relevant building licensing authority in the State or Territory. Builder licensing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements to attainment of this qualification may be required.

Check with relevant state and territory licensing and regulatory authorities. State and territory jurisdictions may have different regulatory requirements.

Entry Requirements

All students will be required to provide the following prior to being enrolled:

  • Construction Induction White Card
  • Photo ID

Students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience within building and construction (if RPL)
  • Have a valid USI
Course Requirements

To achieve the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), the student must demonstrate competency in 18 units of competency:

  • BSBOHS504B - Apply principles of OHS risk management
  • BSBPMG505A - Manage project quality
  • BSBPMG508A - Manage project risk
  • CPCCBC4001A - Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for low rise building projects
  • CPCCBC4003A - Select and prepare a construction contract
  • CPCCBC4004A - Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects
  • CPCCBC4010B - Apply structural principles to residential low rise constructions
  • CPCCBC4013A - Prepare and evaluate tender documentation
  • CPCCBC5001B - Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for medium rise building projects
  • CPCCBC5002A - Monitor costing systems on medium rise building and construction projects
  • CPCCBC5003A - Supervise the planning of on-site medium rise building or construction work
  • CPCCBC5010B - Manage construction work
  • CPCCBC5018A - Apply structural principles to the construction of medium rise buildings
  • CPCCBC5009A - Identify services layout and connection methods to medium rise construction projects
  • CPCCBC5011A - Manage environmental management practices and processes in building and construction
  • CPCCBC5013A - Develop professional technical and legal reports on building and construction projects

Two electives to be selected from below:

  • CPCCBC4005A - Produce labour and material schedules for ordering
  • CPCCBC4006B - Select, procure and store construction materials for low rise projects
  • CPCCBC4009B - Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects
  • CPCCBC4011B - Apply structural principles to commercial low rise constructions
  • CPCCBC4012B - Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • CPCCBC4018A - Apply site surveys and set-out procedures to building and construction projects
  • CPCCBC4024A - Resolve business disputes
Delivery Methods

Students can obtain this qualification by either:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Online
Duration

The expected duration to complete this program online will be 12 months.

For students that are transitioning from the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), they may be eligible for some Credit Transfers which may reduce the duration of learning further.

The RPL process can be completed as quickly as the student supplies all of the required evidences and accommodates the complete process. We allow 6 months for this process, however most students will complete this within 1 month.

Fees and Funding

There is currently no funding available for this course. The fees for this program are $7000.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued with a CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). If the students do not complete the program, they will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the units they have completed.
