UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician

To be a licensed Electrician, you will be required to hold this qualification. An electrical licence is required before any electrical wiring work can be undertaken in NSW, regardless of the cost of the work and regardless of whether the work is residential, commercial or industrial. There are no prerequisite units in this qualification. All students will be required to provide the following prior to being enrolled:

  • Construction Induction White Card
  • Photo ID
Entry Requirements

Students must:

  • Be at least 15 years of age
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience within electrical (if RPL)
  • Have a valid USI
Course Requirements

To achieve the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, the student must demonstrate competency in the following units of competency:

  • UEENEEC020B - Participate in electrical work and competency development activities
  • UEENEEE101A - Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • UEENEEE102A - Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components
  • UEENEEE104A - Solve problems in D.C. circuits
  • UEENEEE105A - Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment
  • UEENEEE107A - Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications
  • UEENEEE137A - Document and apply measures to control OHS risks associated with electrotechnology work
  • UEENEEG006A - Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage machines
  • UEENEEG033A - Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits
  • UEENEEG063A - Arrange circuits, control and protection for general electrical installations
  • UEENEEG101A - Solve problems in electromagnetic devices and related circuits
  • UEENEEG102A - Solve problems in low voltage a.c. circuits
  • UEENEEG103A - Install low voltage wiring and accessories
  • UEENEEG104A - Install appliances, switchgear and associated accessories for low voltage electrical installations
  • UEENEEG105A - Verify compliance and functionality of low voltage general electrical installations
  • UEENEEG106A - Terminate cables, cords and accessories for low voltage circuits
  • UEENEEG107A - Select wiring systems and cables for low voltage general electrical installations
  • UEENEEG108A - Trouble-shoot and repair faults in low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits
  • UEENEEG109A - Develop and connect electrical control circuits
  • UEENEEK142A - Apply environmentally and sustainable procedures in the energy sector
  • UEENEEF102A - Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunication services
Delivery Methods

Students can obtain this qualification by either:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Blended (classroom and Online)

Course commencement date on March 12th 2018. Course duration is within 12 months. Course will run 2 evenings per week (Tuesday and Thursday) and one Saturday every six weeks.

The RPL process can be completed as quickly as the student supplies all of the required evidences and accommodates the complete process. We allow 6 months for this process, however most students will complete this within 1 month.

Fees and Funding

There is currently no funding available for this course. The fees for this program are $9750.


Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued with a UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician. If the students do not complete the program, they will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the units they have completed.
